With an expanse of TV cookery shows and internet tutorial videos, our cooking habits are changing. We at Ubamarket believe that the supermarket trip is crucial to nourishing our families, keeping us healthy, and the results are in.
Ubamarket’s Recipe Nation research polled 2,000 consumers and home-cooks nationwide, and reveals our favourite chefs, recipe shopping habits and of course top five home-cooked meals. We asked which three dishes the nation loves to prepare, and the top twenty results are a combination of far-venturing cuisines, peppered with a selection of British classics. Find out the full results on Wednesday when we will be revealing a sparkly new infographic on the poll.
Not only are we a recipe nation, we’re socially active one, with diverse palates ready for new flavours
For starters, (sorry about the pun), beyond out top three favourite chefs, social media stars, such as Deliciously Ella are influencing our inventiveness in the kitchen, with over two million of us considering Instagram and social media as more inspirational to our eating and shopping habits than TV and magazines.
Somewhat surprisingly, classic British dishes such as the trusty fish and chip supper are less popular than many foreign staples, like the Spanish Paella. In fact, 80% of our favourite recipes descend from abroad. The diversity of our palates, culinary bravery, and inventiveness is marvelously on the up, and we at Ubamarket are very excited about it.
We are changing: Shopping every-day for more diverse produce.
The weekly shop is no longer a weekly must, instead, an army of explorative recipe cooks are trawling the nation’s supermarket shelves, with 15% of us shopping on a daily basis for DIY recipes. This is having an impact on our supermarkets, as over a fifth of us (22%) struggle to locate more diverse produce for our increasingly inventive cooking adventures. And the problem is only set to get bigger, as over six million home cooks try at least one new recipe every week.
However at Ubamarket, this is music to our android and IOS ears. With our in-store navigator and grocery list builder, we will help you find any product that your new recipe throws at you. With personalized, real-time offers and in-app payment, it is even easier to try that recipe you always wanted to; yes even the tofu spag-bol that you just saw on Instagram.
